The department considers applications only for the Ph.D. degree. Strong preference will be given to applicants who are adequately prepared to meet the language requirements of the doctorate. Applications for admission to study in the department must be submitted directly to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) Admissions Office. Individuals are encouraged to submit their applications on-line and all admissions materials, except GRE scores and official transcripts, may be uploaded to the on-line application. Applications for academic year 2007-2008 must be received by GSAS no later than Friday, December 14, 2007. Application materials are NOT to be sent to the department.
